Dry needling is a form of therapy in which fine needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points (muscular knots), tendons, ligaments, or nerves in order to stimulate a healing response in painful musculoskeletal conditions.
Dry needling is a modern, science-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in muscles, tendons and ligaments. The insertion of needles into muscles stimulates an increased blood flow, oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. This releases the myofascial trigger points, decreasing your pain and improving functioning.
At ReBalance Physiotherapy, all of our physiotherapists have undergone further training in dry needling and only use safe procedures that increase the efficiency of dry needling therapy. We use sterile needles that are only inserted once to minimise the risk of infection.
