Advanced pneumatic compression therapy for lymphatic drainage, swelling management, and enhanced recovery.
What is Compression Therapy?
Compression Therapy, also known as pneumatic compression therapy, uses a specialised sleeve system to apply rhythmic, sequential pressure to the limbs. At ReBalance Physiotherapy we use the LymphaPress Plus, a clinical-grade device trusted by physiotherapists and lymphoedema specialists for its precise, multi-chamber compression technology.
The therapy works by gently compressing tissue in a wave-like pattern, moving from the extremities toward the trunk. This mimics and supports the body's natural lymphatic and venous return, helping to move excess fluid, reduce swelling, and support circulation.
Who is Compression Therapy Is For?
Medical and Clinical
Lymphoedema, including post-cancer treatment
Post-surgical swelling, including following orthopaedic, vascular, or cosmetic procedures
Chronic venous insufficiency and venous oedema
Lipoedema management
Post-traumatic swelling following fracture and sprains
General fluid retention and oedema management under clinical guidance
For Medical and Clinical sessions we recommend a 60 minute session and a pre-screen by one of our Chartered Physiotherapists
Recovery and Performance
For athletes and active clients, Compression Therapy is an effective addition to a recovery programme:
Faster recovery between training sessions or competitions
Reduced sensation of heaviness and fatigue in the legs
Support for circulation after long periods of travel, standing, or sitting
A relaxing, passive recovery option to complement massage, mobility work, and rehab exercise
For Recovery and Performance sessions we recommend a 30 minute session. A pre-screen by one of our Chartered Physiotherapists is optional.
How does a Session Works?
1. Pre-Screening — Before your first session, one of our Chartered Physiotherapists will speak with you by phone to review your medical history and confirm Compression Therapy is appropriate and safe for you.
2. Fitting — On arrival, our team will set you up with the LymphaPress Plus sleeves over the affected area (legs or arms).
3. Treatment — Sequential compression is applied at a pressure and pattern tailored to your needs.
4. Ongoing Care — Your physiotherapist remains involved in your treatment plan and will review your progress at follow-up appointments.
Sessions are relaxing and non-invasive, and many clients read, work, or simply rest during treatment.
